Favorite Poem? Possibly...

in Just-
spring when the world is mud-
luscious the little lame baloonman

whistles far and wee

and eddyandbill come
running from marbles and
piracies and it's
spring

when the world is puddle-wonderful

the queer
old baloonman whistles
far and wee
and bettyandisbel come dancing

from hop-scotch and jump-rope and

it's
spring
and
the
goat-footed

baloonMan whistles
far
and
wee

Insanity Strikes Again

In-freakin'-sane
That kind of stuff is so mind-jugglingly awesome, it rocks my socks off. Like, I don't know what to think. Could you imagine such an insane link to the past? I already feel a little overwhelmed when I just see historic sites, imagine if you could hear historic people.

Tribute to a Previous Post

So, I just today deleted the big political post down below. So now I shall simply ask a question. What is it causes death in the streets? Guns or Hate? I'd say a bigger problem than gun control is biggotry, discrimination, stereotyping, etc. Another solution I like is Chris Rock's solution: bullet control. I'll let you look into that solution, hehe.

PIE

Druggy Art

One of the greatest songs in the world.... Jimi Hendrix's Fire (That gives me an idea for a question...).

Not for the lyrics necessarily, though I love the chorus:
I have only one burning desire,
Let me stand next to your fire.

No, what truly shines in this song is the bass line. That, my friends, is music.

Talk Like a Pirate Day Everyday!

Now, if you check out my links on the messed up sidebar to the right, you'll see a website for Talk Like a Pirate Day. I am an advocate of celebrating this day, but I also believe that there are a few phrases that can be used everyday. Here is a short list of a few phrases that deserve common useage.

"Yar!" - This is quite possibly the second most versatile word in the world. You can use it as a greeting, a cheer, a warcry, a sorrow-filled groan, a display of dissatisfaction, etc. Basically, it's all about intonation and expression. Be creative, mix things up, add a freakin' yar! to your day!

"Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!" - Mostly used as a cheer, encouragement, or self-promoting gloat. I prefer to use it as a self-promoting gloat, but to each his own.

"Yo ho yo ho a pirate's life for me!" - expresses content at the current state of affairs in life.

"Blow the man down!" - directly translates to "Put a cap in that mofo!"

"Unfurl the sails!" - can be used as an expression of forward progress, or an encouragement to move faster.

This is by no means a complete list, but I believe these phrases should be used in any colloquial conversation where they may apply.

Apologies

I'd like to apologize for my response to the editorial. I don't want this to be political garbage, rather more philosophical garbage; and pirate nonsense.

ps - yar!

Template

That last post angered the priestess of the template and so now my sidebar is screwed up in the template somehow.

Idiocy Runs Amok

When's enough?

So, right now I'm at a crossroad of sorts. I've played a fair amount of video games for pretty much my entire life, and although I don't like to admit it, I've gained nothing from video games, ever. This becomes more and more apparent every moment I spend throwing my time at them. So lately I've started weaning myself off videogaming, the problem is I've found that now I have too much time. All of a sudden I can't fill my day, so I actually have to be productive. This is a good thing, but it's hard when you've been accustomed to losing hours every single day to a stupid activity. Typing this doesn't justify the impasse I've come to in deciding how much I should stop gaming. I've started spending more time reading, practicing bass, and I try to hang out with people more. But everyone else is so busy I find myself at home, alone, twiddling my thumbs with nothing to do. We all know I'm not going to start homework. I like to think I try every single day to better myself, I can tell you gaming does not better myself, but I'm pretty darn sure homework also does not better myself. A possible question is, if I have an impulse to play games, am I a better person for denying who I am and what I've grown into? Then again, the only description of gaming I've found to be accurate is that of an irrational anti-games crusader known as Jack Thompson, whom I despise, but who called videogames "masturbatory" in that they are a meaningless stimulation of the senses. That summed up most video games surprisingly well. But all the same, is watching television better? Is listening to music better? Is admiring art better? Really, it's all in the mind's eye. It's what you take from it. The problem is, most video games don't give me anything in return, whereas I can take a lot of out reading. Les Miserables is one of the most thought-provoking pieces of literature I have ever read, music like the song I just posted earlier are also thought-provoking. There _are_ games that are thought provoking, but those are few and far between. I just don't know, I've defended gaming my whole life, and now I'm not so sure. Sometimes I do want to waste time away, sometimes I don't want to think, and sometimes I just need to get away. Or am I just being lazy and unproductive? Tough question...

More Lyrical Fun

Led Zeppelin - Going to California
Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going To California with an aching in my heart.

Someone told me there's a girl out there
with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
Took my chances on a big jet plane,
never let them tell you that they're all the same.

The sea was red and the sky was grey,
wondered how tomorrow could ever follow today.
The mountains and the canyons started to tremble and shake
as the children of the sun began to awake.

Seems that the wrath of the Gods
Got a punch on the nose and it started to flow;
I think I might be sinking.
Throw me a line if I reach it in time
I'll meet you up there where the path
Runs straight and high.

To find a queen without a king,
They say she plays guitar and cries and sings... la la la
Ride a white mare in the footsteps of dawn
Tryin' to find a woman who's never, never, never been born.
Standing on a hill in my mountain of dreams,
Telling myself it's not as hard, hard, hard as it seems

The songs I like to hear are in phases. This particular song is one I have been listening to a lot lately, there's a couple lines that I like to hear. And I like to share good songs.

Funny

Check out this short Post-Apocalyptic War Web Comic.
There's only 14 comics, so I suggest reading them all in a row.
These actually cheered me up quite a bit.

Reading is good

So you probably wouldn't have guessed, but I'm currently reading the daunting, unabridged, Les Miserables by Victor Hugo. This book is quite possibly the best writing I have ever seen, albeit translated from French so not the true experience, but still it's really good in English as well. Anyway, I came across a passage that was unique and fulfilling enough to post here:

"Nowhere can the mind's eye find anything more dazzling or more obscure than in man; it can focus on nothing more awe-inspiring, more complex, more mysterious, or more infinite. There is one spectacle greater than the sea: That is the sky; there is one spectacle greater than the sky: That is the interior of the soul."

There is more verbal goodness that follows, but too much to contain in one page, not to mention belittle on a website.

Time and time again...

Those guys at Penny Arcade have some of the best dialogue. On par with Tarantino, I'd say. Yes, they're that good. Observe.

Global Warming

Shut up, hippies.

Here's an article about records of cooling temperatures in the past 8 years.

In the 70's, Newsweek had articles raving about "Global Cooling"

I'm not saying this proves Global Warming is false, I'm just saying that you should shut up and stop looking like an idiot.

I am for Capital Punishment

It's this kind of crap that makes me glad the United States still has the Death Penalty. Am I wrong to believe some people deserve to die?

The Greatest Ramen Noodle Making Device. Ever.

Ramen Noodle Making 101

This is posted not because it follows the pirate way, it is simply cool. A real pirate would swoop in at the end, grab the Ramen, and run.

Color Scheme

You're looking at the color scheme?
Screw you! Orange rocks. Next song! NEXT SONG!

Also:
I'm working on a date to celebrate Salutin' Day.
Preferrably a date that would be a sweet sweet oasis from the dry desert between holidays where you drink (i.e. holidays). Suggestions?
Also preferrable would be a date coming up so we have an excuse to celebrate something soon!

FYI

Just an aside as to this blog.
This is not my first blog, nor will it be my last (or will it? dun dun DUN!!). But for your information I'll be just posting whatever. Feel free to never come back, but enjoy your stay.

V for Vendetta

Saw it a couple night ago, I liked it.

It reminded me of a great quote from John Stuart Mill:
"A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his personal safety, is a miserable creature who has no chance of being free, unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself."

It also made me that much more glad the United States has the 2nd ammendment.

Why Pirates rock so much.

They just do.
No questions.
